New Affordable Homeownership Opportunity Coming to Fort Worth

New Affordable Homeownership Opportunity Coming to Fort Worth
Candee Martinez

Parents and staff at TBP Fort Worth have a new opportunity to explore affordable homeownership right here in Fort Worth. The Fort Worth Community Land Trust (FWCLT)—a nonprofit organization focused on creating attainable housing—has announced its first major development near our Trinity Basin Bolt location in the Rosemont/Carroll Park neighborhood.

FWCLT’s mission is simple: help low-to-moderate income families purchase homes they can afford now, while keeping those homes affordable for future generations. At a time when rising rents and home prices have made homeownership feel out of reach for many families, this program offers a stable, long-term solution.

What’s Coming to the Neighborhood

Over the next four years, FWCLT plans to develop 200 homes, including both new construction and renovated properties. By the end of this year, 20 duplexes are expected to be completed and ready for purchase. Homes will start at $135,000 for qualified buyers, without the stress of multiple-offer bidding.

Why This Matters for Our Families

Many families in the Fort Worth area face frequent rent increases and challenges staying in one place long-term. FWCLT offers a path to stability. Through this program, qualified buyers can step into homeownership—building roots, equity, and long-term security.

Who May Qualify

Families and staff may be eligible if they:

  • Earn between 60% and 120% of the Area Median Income (AMI)
  • Obtain a pre-approval letter from a participating lender
  • Complete an 8-hour HUD-approved homebuyer education class

FWCLT Wants to Partner With Our School

FWCLT is interested in working directly with TBP campuses to ensure our families and staff understand how the program works and how to apply. Their team is offering to host on-site information sessions—during staff meetings, family events, or even lunchtime drop-ins.

During these sessions, families and staff can:

  • Learn how the Community Land Trust model works
  • Find out who qualifies and what steps are required
  • Receive printed materials and resources
  • Ask questions and get connected to the next steps in the application process

A Valuable Resource for Our School Community

This initiative is an important opportunity for families and educators who want stability and are feeling the pressure of rising housing costs. FWCLT aims to help residents remain in the Fort Worth community while building a more secure future.
